I was awarded The 2014 Mayors Arts Award for Excellence in Teaching Arts. This is the most prestigious honor conferred by the city on individual artists, teachers, nonprofit organizations and patrons of the arts. This was just another testament of DC Public Schools not only supporting the arts but supporting art teachers and trusting them to extract the creativity in our talented youth. Can't say it enough, I'm proud to be a DCPS teacher.

The National Portrait Gallery’s Teacher Advisory Board is a dynamic national group of teachers interested in building a shared community of practice. I will be able to offer my expertise on developing strategies for working more effectively with other classroom teachers while also having an opportunity to provide feedback on museum program development. Through this exchange, Portrait Gallery staff and K–12 educators will improve resources for the museum’s K–12 audiences and bring the perspectives of classroom teachers from around the country into the museum. In addition, as a Teacher Advisory Board members I will act as Portrait Gallery ambassadors in order to broaden the museum’s national audience.
